How Much Does Smart Film Cost in Miami?

In Miami and South Florida, professionally installed switchable smart film costs $55 to $90 per square foot, installed. The exact figure depends on three things: the grade of PDLC film you choose, the total square footage of glass, and how complex the wiring and access are. That price covers the film itself, concealed busbar wiring, the transformer, your control method, professional installation on your existing glass, and Deluxe Smart Film's 2-year warranty. Prices current as of September 2026.

    What the price includes

Every Deluxe Smart Film quote is all-in. There are no separate line items for wiring or controls unless you ask for something outside the standard setup.

    • Self-adhesive PDLC smart film cut to your exact panel dimensions
    • Busbar edge wiring, routed and concealed
    • Power supply / transformer sized for your total square footage
    • Control: RF remote, wall switch, or smartphone app (smart-home integration such as Control4, Crestron, Lutron or Alexa is available at additional cost)
    • Professional installation on your existing glass — no glass replacement
    • 2-year warranty on film and installation
    • Free on-site measurement and quote

What moves the price up or down

    Film grade

Standard PDLC film sits at the lower end of the range. Premium high-clarity, low-haze film — the kind you want on a floor-to-ceiling window with a bay view — sits at the top. Both switch instantly; the difference is how clear the glass looks when it's on and how uniform the frost is when it's off.

    Job size

Larger projects earn a lower per-square-foot rate. A single shower panel carries setup, wiring and a dedicated site visit on a small area, so it prices toward the top of the range. A whole-floor office fit-out spreads those fixed costs across hundreds of square feet and prices toward the bottom.

    Complexity

Number of separate panels, cut-outs for hardware, curved or non-rectangular glass, exterior-facing glass, high ceilings and lift access, long concealed wiring runs to the power source, and integration with a building automation system all add labor. A simple interior partition with power nearby is the easiest install we do.

    Real project examples

These are typical Miami jobs priced at the $55–$90 range. Your quote will land on a specific number after we measure.

Frameless shower glass — one or two panels, about 30–40 sq ft

Roughly $1,700 – $3,600 installed. The most common residential request. Frost the glass for privacy, clear it to keep the bathroom feeling open.

Sliding glass door — two panels, about 45–60 sq ft

Roughly $2,500 – $5,400 installed. Popular for Florida lanais and pool-facing bedrooms. One switch takes the whole opening from clear to private.

Office or conference room partition — 120–200 sq ft

Roughly $6,600 – $18,000 installed. Priced toward the lower per-square-foot rate because of the size. Usually wired to a wall switch at the door and, optionally, the room's AV system.

Smart film vs. replacement smart glass

Smart film is applied to the glass you already have. Switchable smart glass replaces the glass itself with a laminated switchable panel, which means new glazing, framing work and often a glazier plus an electrician. For existing glass, film is the far more economical route and the install takes hours rather than days. Ways to keep the cost down

    • Group panels into one project rather than doing them one at a time — the per-square-foot rate drops with size.
    • Choose a control method that fits the space; a wall switch is simpler to wire than a full automation integration.
    • Tell us where power is available. A short, concealed run to an existing outlet is the cheapest wiring scenario.
    • Financing is available — ask during your consultation.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does smart film cost per square foot in Miami?

Professionally installed smart film from Deluxe Smart Film costs $55 to $90 per square foot in Miami and South Florida, depending on film grade, project size and installation complexity.

    Does the price include installation?

Yes. Our per-square-foot pricing is all-in: film, concealed wiring, transformer, your control method, professional installation on your existing glass, and a 2-year warranty.

Why is there a price range instead of one number?

Three factors move the price: the grade of PDLC film (standard vs. premium high-clarity), the total square footage (bigger projects cost less per square foot), and complexity (panel count, cut-outs, exterior glass, wiring distance, access and smart-home integration).

Is smart film cheaper than smart glass?

For existing glass, yes — smart film is applied to the glass you already have, while switchable smart glass requires replacing the glazing itself. Film also installs in hours rather than days.

How much does smart film cost for a shower?

A typical frameless shower of one or two panels (about 30–40 sq ft) runs roughly $1,700 to $3,600 installed in Miami.
