What it costs
Turning an existing glass office or conference room into on-demand private space costs $55 to $90 per square foot installed. A private office with one 40 square foot sidelight is about $2,600 to $3,600; a conference room with 120 square feet of glass is $7,900 to $10,800. That is a fraction of the cost of replacing the glass with switchable smart glass, and it is done in an evening. Details: smart film pricing guide.
How we install it
We film the corridor-facing side of the partition so the film is out of reach of chairs and cleaning crews, route the lead wire through the mullion or ceiling, and mount a switch inside the room by the door. Where the room already has an AV or lighting keypad, we add "privacy" to it. Work is done after hours; the room is usable the next morning.
Office doors, sidelights and reception glass
Doors and sidelights
Corridor sidelights and door lites that should never be see-through get a frosted band or full frosted film; doors on rooms that host meetings get switchable film so the room can open up between them.
Conference rooms
The whole glass run on one zone with the switch by the door, or a keypad scene if the room already has AV control, so a meeting goes private in under a second.
Reception and branding
A decorative band with the logo at eye level, switchable film behind the front desk or on the glass that faces the lobby, and the same frost level throughout so the suite reads as one design.
Mixing film types
Most fit-outs use both: permanent frosted film where privacy is constant and switchable film where it changes, matched on one job so the finishes agree.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it block sound?
No. Smart film is a visual privacy product; it does not change the acoustic performance of the glass.
Can part of the glass stay clear?
Yes. We can film only a band at seated eye level or leave a clear strip at the top so the space still feels open.
Will it interfere with video calls or screens?
No. In the frosted state it simply prevents people outside from seeing the screen; inside the room nothing changes.
Can we keep it frosted all day?
Yes. The film can stay in either state indefinitely; many clients frost it by default and clear it for open-plan days.
Frosted film or smart film for office doors?
Frosted film for doors and sidelights that should always be private, about $8 to $20 per square foot installed; switchable smart film for rooms that need to go from open to private and back, $55 to $90 per square foot. Many suites use both, and we install them on the same visit.
