The Deluxe Smart Film Academy is an online, self-paced video course built by a company that installs switchable PDLC smart film every day across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. The lessons cover the tools and materials, what not to do, the step-by-step installation process, and how to connect and test the low-voltage system that makes the glass switch. Whether you call it smart film, switchable film or smart glass film, it is the same PDLC product and the same installation process, and this course is the installer training for it.
You work through it on your own schedule, on any device, and you keep lifetime access. After completing the required lessons and passing the course assessment, you receive a Deluxe Smart Film Academy Certificate of Completion. Enrollment opens soon; the VIP reservation list is notified first.

The Academy is taught by Deluxe Smart Film's own installers, led by founder Awadrey Delgado. The company has completed 500+ switchable smart film installations across South Florida since 2020 — you can see real project photos on our projects page. Every lesson comes from work we actually do, not theory.

For tint shops and glaziers: the practical questions
If you already tint windows or set glass, here is what carries over and what you will need to learn.
I run a tint shop. How much of what I already do transfers?
Glass cleaning to installation standard, film handling, cutting, positioning and squeegee technique all transfer directly. What is new is the electrical side — bus-bar attachment, transformer selection and placement, controller wiring and testing — and edge sealing, which the Installation and Electrical phases of the Academy cover in full.
What tools do I need beyond a tint kit?
Film application tools, precision cutting tools, basic electrical tools and measurement equipment. The course lists them in detail. Most tint shops already own the first two; the electrical tools are inexpensive and covered lesson by lesson.
How does a smart film ticket compare to tint?
We can only state the published installed ranges on this site: smart film runs about $55 to $90 per square foot installed in Florida, versus roughly $7 to $20 per square foot for solar, safety and decorative window film. Do I need an electrician on staff?
No. The wiring is low-voltage and is taught step by step in the Academy. That said, check your state's rules on low-voltage electrical work before offering it commercially — rules vary, and the certificate does not grant a license.
Can I source film for my customers?
The Business phase covers material sourcing for trained installers, and certified installers get special pricing on materials. Both are already stated on this page; we do not publish film-only wholesale prices publicly.
Is the course available in Spanish?
The course is taught in English. The website has Spanish guides at /es, including a glossary, a pricing page and a guide to what PDLC film is. We have not announced a Spanish edition of the Academy.
