Safety First: Smart Film in Family Homes

When installing new technology in a residential setting, safety is always the primary concern—especially when children and pets are involved. Fortunately, smart film is incredibly safe and even adds an extra layer of protection to your home.

Low-Voltage Operation

A common concern is electricity running over glass. However, smart film operates on very low voltage (typically 48V to 60V AC). The wiring is heavily insulated, safely routed, and connected to a certified step-down transformer. It poses no shock hazard to humans or pets under normal operating conditions.

What smart film does not do

Smart film is a thin bonded polymer layer, and any bonded film adds some resistance to glass coming apart on impact. It is not a safety film and it is not a security film. It is not rated or tested as one and it should never be specified as one. If holding broken glass together is the goal, that is a dedicated security window film of four mil or thicker with a proper attachment detail, a different product, which can be installed on the same glass.
