How to Clean Smart Film
!This guide is for smart film only, not regular window film.
Two supplies and four steps to keep your switchable privacy film crystal clear.

Clean smart film only with a soft microfiber cloth and 99% isopropyl alcohol. Put the alcohol on the cloth, wipe gently in light, straight strokes, then dry with a second clean cloth.

One liquid and one type of cloth. Keep both on hand.

A roll of 50 soft microfiber cloths, 12 in. x 12 in. One cleans, a fresh one dries.

Step by step
Four steps to a clear finish
- Step 1Get two clean, dry microfiber cloths.
One cleans and one dries, so streaks never spread. HDX microfiber cloths (Home Depot).
- Step 2Put a little 99% isopropyl alcohol on the first cloth.
Apply it to the cloth, never directly on the film. MaxTite 99.9% isopropyl alcohol (Amazon).
- Step 3Wipe gently in light, straight strokes.
Overlap each pass slightly and let the cloth do the work. Do not scrub.
- Step 4Dry right away with the second cloth.
Drying at once prevents streaks. Do not leave liquid sitting along the edges.

Do
- Clean only with a microfiber cloth and 99% isopropyl alcohol
- Apply the alcohol to the cloth, not the film
- Keep transformers powered and dry
- Use your film as usual, with the switch or remote
Don’t
- Use ammonia-based, abrasive or chemical cleaners
- Use scrapers or pressure washers
- Put tape, stickers or other films on the smart film
- Spray liquid directly onto the film

Your smart film installation is backed by our 2-year warranty. Following these cleaning instructions keeps that coverage valid. Failure to follow them voids the warranty.

Smart film cleaning FAQ
Can I use Windex or other glass cleaner on smart film?
No. Many glass cleaners contain ammonia, and our instructions rule out ammonia-based cleaners on smart film. Use only a microfiber cloth and 99% isopropyl alcohol.
Can I clean smart film with soap and water?
Our instructions call for a microfiber cloth and 99% isopropyl alcohol only. To keep your warranty valid, stick to that method.
How often should I clean smart film?
Whenever you see fingerprints or smudges. There is no fixed schedule. Wipe gently with a cloth dampened with alcohol, then dry.
Can I use paper towels or a sponge?
No. Use microfiber only. Paper towels and abrasive pads can damage the surface.
Where can I buy the products you recommend?

My smart film flickers or won’t switch. What should I do?
